It would be great to have a desktop icon like in Windows that will automatically minimize all apps to the taskbar so that you can gain quick access to your desktop. Is there such a feature in Red Hat linux?
I haven't used RH8 yet, so you may have to adapt this a little. I have an applet in my panle that shows multiple desktops. I went into Sawfish and set it for four desktops (2x2).
When I'm working on several tasks I may open apps for each task on separate desktops. Switching between desktops that are already running the apps I need is faster than minimizing all windows, then starting a new app.
