Tell RHN to update your current configuration in case you've installed or removed packages without using up2date: up2date -p List what updates are available for your current config: up2date -l List all packages available: up2date --showall
That's the cheat sheet in 30 seconds or less.
And if you simply want to blindly update everything on the system, do
up2date -i -u -f
