I have redhat 9 and im in trouble to fix a reverse dns
lookup problem.

file /etc/nsswitch.conf:
hosts: files dns

file /etc/host.conf:
order hosts,bind

file /etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.0.25 machine1

file /etc/resolv.conf:
nameserver 192.168.1.1 <-- adsl modem

if I try to telnet my server (192.168.0.100) from
192.168.0.25 when modem is down, I have a long delay
to receive a prompt.

This problem is listed in
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=57998

Anyone have a workaround to solve that? I dont have
bind/dns server or nis (and dont want to have them).

Regards,

Paulo
