can anybody who has upgraded from 7.2 to the latest version on RH give me
any pointers.

Make backup copies of all your important configuration files, just in case the RPM scripts trash something they shouldn't or make assumptions that don't apply. My experience has been that the rate of snafus is higher as your box gets further away from a vanilla, non-customized install (and the assumptions that RH makes that you have a vanilla install).
