Yeah. My thoughts are:

-unless you wish to conserve electricity, you're better off to leave
the computer on all the time.
-all, that is, except your monitor. Monitors age when on whether
you're looking at them or not. You would be best to turn the monitor
on the first time you use it during the day then off the last time
so that it is not on 24X7.  I wouldn't turn it on and off several
times, since that also ages it.

I'm running an experiment with my monitor, I never turn it off, but
have the screen saver set up to put it in low-power standby mode after
one hour of system being idle. I'm assuming that this is roughly
equivalent to turning it off and it will prevent it from aging as
quickly as it would if active all the time. I could instead set it up
to turn off all the way after an idle period, but don't want to have
to go thru a more lengthy restart whenever I use it.
