I have it working on my DELL Inspiron 7000. I just went into linuxconf, then
Networking->Client tasks->Basic host Information
Selected the "Adaptor 1" tab, then:
Enabled
Net device: eth0
Kernel module: 3c59x
and of course set my name, IP address, and netmask.
And it all worked. I don't think that I even had to reboot.
