There are many options you have but after testing both the HP slim line and
the Compaq slim line, I have found that none of the major distribs will work
on these machines unless you want 300x200 graphic, on the new Compaq. I run
RedHat 6.0, Caldera Open Linux, 1.3, 2.3, Corel Linux, and Turbo Linux, none
of which would work under the xwindows with built in graphics. Also there
is a problem with 8xx line of Intel chipset.

I have found the white boxes are my best option, but I have used it on a HP
Vectra line with built in graphics and it is working fine using Corel Linux,
download version. So bottom line is some will work and some will not, but
for sure the slim line systems seem to be the biggest problem.

Subject: linux and integrated video and sound

Hi everyone,

Does any one know whether linux is 'motherboard integrated graphics
and

sound' friendly?

Some fairly decent brand name computer such as HP Pavilions seem to
have

this.

Are these 'standards' friendly or hostile to linux?

the exacyt type seems to be intel 3d sound and intel direct AGP 3D
Graphics

Thanks :-)
