I am trying to configure a ppp link to my isp from my computer. I am
running RedHat 6.2.

My isp uses pap.

When I tried to activate the ppp link I got the following message on
stderr:

Failed to activate /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0

I also found the following lines in /var/log/messages:

ifup-ppp: pppd started for ppp1 on /dev/ttyS1 at 115200
pppd[9261]: The remote system (ppp0) is required to authenticate itself
but I
pppd[9261]: couldn't find any suitable secret (password) for it to use
to do so.

The file /etc/ppp/pap-secrets exists and contains my username and
password.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?
