Yep this worked fine.  Upgraded to e2fsprogs-1.17-1.i386 and everything
seems sweet now.

Mind you I searched for AGES on Red Hat for the resolution to this problem
and unless you know exactly what you are looking for their search engines
are absolutely HOPELESS!
