I have had consistent lockups using Gnome. It doesn't seem to be as bad
using KDE. I downloaded and installed the latest Gnome packages from Red Hat
but I still get wierd behavior. The oddest is my Licq setup. If I start it
from the menu list, it starts and then dies immediately, if I start it from
a terminal, it runs okay. This is a recent developement as it used to start
from the menu item just fine. Maybe Gnome needs a little more work? I
haven't tried this in KDE since my root account uses this and my user
account uses Gnome.
