Netscape disappears when ANY java applet starts

Netscape disappears when ANY java applet starts

I am using a default install of Corel Linux (yeah I
know....but I NEED to go there....) and it giveth me grief.

Any time I start a java applet, from Yahoo Messenger to Tech
Data's Ordering Applet, Netscape disappears.

I am lost and do not know where to begin.
