For a home network, there isn't any need for internal DNS. Let your ISP
handle your external DNS, and use host files for internal IP<->hostname
lookup. You won't have to deal with DNS at all, and you can still use
hostnames instead of IP addresses.

You need to install bind (and maybe bind-utils) and the
'caching-nameserver' rpm.
You setup your resolve.conf to have 127.0.0.1 as your primary
nameserver, and your ISP nameservers as secondary.
The caching only nameserver will use the ISP nameserver if it is not
cached, and cache it, speeding up the next lookup.
It's no so scary. try it.
