Hi Ritha,

If you are compelled to stick to R.H. 6.0, try to select the option
'Everything at the time when you install R.H.6.0.  It sounds a little bid
ridiculous.  Otherwise you have to check all missing files/tools to be used
for compilation, it is quite time consuming.  glibc-devel package is in your
RH 6.0 CD in RPM folder (/Redhat/RPM).  You have to install its package.
gcc was formerly known as egcs.  Try to install its package.  You can find
them in RPM folder as well.

Then try to check crt1.o as follow;

#  rpm -qal | grep crt1.o
