I think it is the best release I've ever used. I've been using it for
two months on a couple dozen machines without problems. I was evaluating
rawhide on a few machines for months before and was quite happy with it.

If you depend on old libc5 applications, though, you might want to stick
with RH6.2. RH7 drops support for libc5 from what I can tell. My
profession is one of compiling and maintaining software systems, so I
banished libc5 from my machines over a year and a half ago, so it was no
big deal for me. There are also quite a few closed source packages
(Netscape 6PR3, StarOffice) that make calls to deprecated or
undocumented glibc, and those crash and burn. I never liked closed
source software anyway <grin>. Well mannered glibc2-compatible
commercial software (e.g. Sybase, IBM, and Oracle) runs very well.

The XFree4 rocks. RedHat compiles everything with SSL wherever possible
in the RH7 release, and includes OpenSSH 2.2.1. The whole system is 2.4
ready, which is making it easier for me to evaluate and test my stuff to
make sure I'm 2.4 ready too.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't heard a single legitimate criticism of
RH7 to date. The /. thread that I'm sure we all read was a bunch of
ridiculous FUD mostly from folks who didn't even try it.

Anyway, now you've heard something other than a complaint of RH7. I
suspect you haven't heard a lot of praise, because people who are
content generally have better things to do than sit around and complain.
