Normal, netcfg will take care of adding the route for your local
network.  You may need to add a gateway, depending on how you connect to
the internet.  If you use the modem on this machine, and a PPP connection,
then when you bring up the PPP connection, it will take care of adding the
default route for you.  You will probably want to add some firewall rules
for your PPP connection.  You will definitly want to add some rules if you
want to share the PPP connection with the rest of your local
network.  (See the IP-Masquerade mini-HOWTO.)
