You most definately can install Linux and Windows.  There are 3 techniques
you can use:

1. Install Windows first and then Linux.  Put LILO to the MBR and use LILO at
boot to decide which OS to run.

2. Install Linux first and then Windows NT/2000 afterwards.  Put LILO to the
Linux boot partition.  You can use a program called bootpart to load Linux
from the Windows loader but it's a bit more tricky than the first method.

3. Use a program like BootMagic (comes with Partition Magic) to decide which
OS to load.  Put LILO to the Linux boot partition.

Only Windows is arrogant enough to assume it's the only OS on the computer. 
Linux runs quite happily with other OSes...
