You may also want to change it to:
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner 0 0
This lets you mount ext2, minux, and dos formatted disks. It also will
not try to mount the disk on bootup, so you will not get an error message
if you boot without a disk in the drive.

If I remember correctly, the flopy drivers are a module with the stock
kernel with 6.0. You may have to run "modprobe floppy" before mtools
work. You should also check /etc/mtools.conf to see how mtools is
configured to access your floppys. I think the default config only works
with 1.44M disks.
