I just installed a network card on my system and configured the eth0
interface. I have noticed two things now, though, one not so bad and the
other more bad:

When I ping any system (even localhost), I get this warning:
Warning: no SO_TIMESTAMP support, falling back to SIOCGSTAMP

What causes that?

Also, my rp3 client will not work right anymore. It will start up on ppp0
just fine, dial, and report traffic. Then I click the button to take the
interface down and it goes down. However, the "light" stays green and it
keeps reporting traffic even though the iface is down. I then have to exit
and restart rp3 to get it to work right.

Did I change something inadvertantly?

Here's the output from chkconfig:

No, my friend, the way to have good and safe government, is not to trust it
all to one, but to divide it among the many, distributing to every one exactly
the functions he is competent to. It is by dividing and subdividing these
republics from the national one down through all its subordinations, until it
ends in the administration of every man's farm by himself; by placing under
every one what his own eye may superintend, that all will be done for the
best.
-- Thomas Jefferson, to Joseph Cabell, 1816
