I had the same problem six months ago.

Have you changed your hostname after the last time you restarted Samba?

I fixed it by modifying the localhost line in /etc/hosts to look like
this:

[saul@server]$ cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1       server.etiresinstallers.com server localhost
