use the -R paramater for lilo. I.e. if your lilo.conf file reads as this: image = /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.10.img label = stable
image = /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.16.img label = untested then execute lilo -R untested, then reboot. Upon reboot, untested will load.
