I had that same problem installing Red Hat 7.1 with the lp 2000r. So, we used mylex card as a work around (which turns out to have its own problems).
There were no install issues with Red Hat 7.2. So unless you have a reason to stay with Red Hat 7.1, it might be best to try 7.2.
