I am using grub for booting and this is what my grub.conf looks like:
default=0
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Red Hat Linux (2.4.9-13)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.9-13 ro root=/dev/hda1 hdc=ide-scsi
initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.9-13.img
My lg cd writer works great. I can't remember having to fiddle with the
modules when I got it working the first time.
(I suppose this wasn't really your question though).
