Simple problem with a simple fix.. you linux machine is not on the domain yet.
Do the following: on the pdc delete any machine related information about your linux machine - then readd it - this makes sure the domain is aware of your sid on the linux machine. Then you run the smbpasswd -j -r command and it should work. J.
