I upgraded from 2.4.7-10 to the 2.4.9-13 kernel using up2date.  It went
flawlessly and took about 20 seconds.  You may want to look at this
option. If you go this route, be sure you have the latest up2date rpm, 
package, up2date-2.7.11-7.x.2.
