first: for me , it's bad idea put the NIC in auto mode!, just fix the ehternet to 10 or 100 mbs, then try the mode, first with half duplex and after with full duplex.
second: try to gain a switch, not a "simple" hub !!! third: check utp wiring!, is it tested ????
