The OP asked how to access cvs as root without errors. He didn't ask if it was ok to do so. CVS mainters say that compiled in root block thing is there becasue root commits are effectively anonymous commits. Rendering some of what cvs does ineffective. That is not an issue on a single user machine, like mine. Root commits aren't anonymous. In fact any commits are mine.
