Folks,
I'm trying to install 7.3 on my system that currently runs 7.2.
Here's the configuration:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-6VXDC7
CPUs: 2 x 866 MHz
Memory: 512 MB (one PC-133 DIMM)
SCSI Adaptor 1: Adaptec AHA-2940U2W
Dev 1 (9.1GB): Fixed Disk - Quantum Atlas V 9 LWS (LVD) <- Win XP
Pro
Dev 2 (4.3GB): Fixed Disk - Seagate ST34371W <- Red Hat Linux 7.2
Dev 3 (1GB): Removable Disk - Iomega Jaz
SCSI Adaptor 2: Symbios Logic 53C810
Dev 1 (8mm Tape): Exabyte EXB-8505
IDE0:
Primary: LG CED-8080B CD-RW
IDE1:
Primary: Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-114
Video: Matrox G450 (16MB)
NIC: D-Link DFE-530TX (Rev. A)
Sound: Creative AWE64
Mouse: PS/2
Keyboard: PS/2
When I boot from the CD, the boot starts as normal. Once it gets
past the new (and nice!) boot screen into the install screen it gets
as far as the AIC-7XXX detection when it halts with the error:
Kernel Panic: For safety
I've tried installing without probing, but as soon as I select the
AIC-7XXX devices, the same error occurs.
I seached the web and Red Hat, but I guess it is too early for
anything yet!
Suggestions?
Thanks!
Cheers,
Mike
