thank you for your help, obviously I did not know about that command... I have since found a good ftp site and downloaded a new file... it seems like the iso image on most of the ftp sites listed in the mirror and the "official" ones off redhat.com are either trunciated or something else cause they were missing several kbs.. but as you suggested it might be a good idea to check all 3 disks just to make sure!
