Check for other Xwindows related commands like Xconfigurator and XF86config
. If these work then it means that x server has been installed on the system
and due to some reason startx is missing. Try to locate the rpm containing
startx and force install it on your system. Try the man pages for startx .

It might be next to impossible to install Xwindows manually because it
involves anywhere around 50 packages for complete installation.

For that you will have to calculate dependencies for each and every package
and install them manually.

I dont know of any automated installer for Linux ( Can somebody enlighten me
on this)
