cron and pppd

Hi all,

 

I'm running Red Hat 7.2. I have the machine connected to the net using pppd, everything works fine when I start the connection manually.

My problem is, is that I have to have the machine disconnected between 6pm and 11pm each night. I have cron set up to do this, and it works perfectly when it disconnects, but at 11pm when it tries to connect again, my shell script comes back with:

 

/u/scripts/bin/arach[61]: pppd: not found
Error occurred while executing pppd

 

Which is fine, so I put the full path to /usr/sbin/pppd in cron. The pppd service starts, but the modem does nothing, and the service sits there and remains idle. Yet this works fine when I start the script manually.

 

Any ideas as to why this is happening?
