If the above is the actual command you used, it shouldn't have uninstalled anything: # rpm -q slocate slocate-2.6-1 # rpm -e slocate-2.6-1.i386.rpm error: package slocate-2.6-1.i386.rpm is not installed The proper syntax would be 'rpm -e slocate' or even 'rpm -e slocate-2.6-1' > #rpm -ivh slocate-2.6-1.i386.rpm > Preparing... ###########################################[100%] > 1:slocate error: unpacking of archie failed on file > /usr/bin/slocate: cpio: rename failed - Operation not permitted Perhaps permissions on other files are incorrect as well. The important question to answer here is, how did the permissions get changed in the first place? - -- - -Michael pgp key: http://www.tuxfan.homeip.net:8080/gpgkey.txt Red Hat Linux 7.2 in 8M of RAM: http://www.rule-project.org/ - -- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iEYEARECAAYFAj0jLgYACgkQn/07WoAb/StyaACfaXGTg2h0wLul6ZjhxF7Xr3Vo o/oAoIwghVDD2Dt1t0ioL+TdBT2rgr0F =jzdZ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
