Hello, I am new to Linux, actually my brand new Dell Power Edge server is in transit now. I ordered it installed with Red Hat Linux 7.2. The server I purchased is a dual processor Xeon, model 2650 - brand new. I ordered the server with just one processor, and a terminator card in the other chip socket, and intend to add the second processor soon.
My question is this. I have heard that there have been compatibility problems with Linux Kernel 2.4.17+ running xeon processor based servers with Miva Empresa, which is a server software package for running Miva Merchant e-commerce. Is this true? If so what should I be aware of in this regard as far as compatibility or troubleshooting? My Miva corporation source tells me that the problem is in regard to... "There is a problem in 2.4.17+ where Empresa will exit but Apache will not clean up the child process immediately, delaying the serving of the last few images for the page. This causes a noticeable delay in the completion of a page request on the browser side; noticeable as in a 1/2 to 1 second pause. In Miva's credit, this looks to be a Linux Virtual Memory issue..."
