Michael, this really should be question of the week, because that's how
often it gets asked.

Search google on how to do this, but if you want my opinion, you're going to
save a lot of time and effort by ditching the internal modem and purchasing
a decent serial external one. In the past, present and future I expect,
serial external modems just work. Internal soft modems are the devil's
spawn, and something I wish could be uninvented.
