I have spent the better part of three days trying to reinstall red-hat on my systems and thought that I'd offer up some feedback to the people who design the installation tools for RedHat. The reasons for the multiple installs are most likely hardware related problems, but I still haven't determined all of the issues. I'll keep trying though...
Here are some points: 1) I'd like to see an option that would place an install config file on the root filesystem during the install process, so that when the systems fails, I don't have to walk through the same 15 screens and check the same 15 items to get the process started again. 2) I'd like to see an option in Disk Druid to use the default disk lables in the advanced setup, to populate the volume names field. 3) I would think that some of the install screens could be consolidated, like keyboard and mouse and some of the networking screens. 4) Is there a better way to let me pick individual packages without having to drill down into each of the directories? 5) It's great to see the security firewall stuff right there in the install, but I would appreciate a bit more documentation on what the various pieces are actually do, like trusted interface... 6) The most useful thing would be an option to restart a faulted install where it left off. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten through 2 hours of install, just to see that one of the packages won't load (Wine in my case). The only option is to reinstall...why not just skip that piece? Let me load it later? I know, I know, it's more complicated than that...but it sure would be nice to just restart the system and have it begin where is left off. This was just intended as some friendly feedback from a Loyal RedHat Newbie. I use Microsoft and MAC at work and I would love to see Linux come in and replace everything I have... Flame-retardant has been applied to this message, so you can hold off on any heat that you may be considering throwing my way. thanks -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
