Have no ide, but for my laptop (Compaq Evo N1000v) I had compile kernel 2.4.19 and then apply the lates ac-patch to get DMA working. That was with redhat 7.3, Mandrake 9.0, Suse 8.0. (Yes I have been playing around.) Now with RedHat 8.0 and kernel 2.4.18 I do have DMA. So I was pleasantly surprised.
