I've only just started using a laptop, so I'm fairly new to the whole PCMCIA thing, but I do remember reading some statements that it's possible to run scripts automatically when a PCMCIA card is inserted - like for example the network scripts are run automatically when I insert my PCMCIA NIC. I'd therefore expect that it's possible to augment said scripts to mount your SMB shares (or whatever you need to do) as well as soon as the network is up and independend of boot order. The advantage of this would be that you could pull the NIC and plug it back in later and the share would come up as well. I don't have any specific pointers at the moment, but maybe it's something to investigate. Cheerio, Thomas -- http://www.netmeister.org/news/learn2quote.html ...'cause only lusers quote signatures!
