use:
# mount /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom
Make sure that the directory /mnt/cdrom exists and is empty. That should do 
it.

Just something more: Does anyone know how to implement supermount developed by 
Mandrake in Redhat? You don't have to mount/unmount a removable device 
explicitly. How good is this tool?
