i did assign static IP to it which allowed me to activte it but it will not let me access the net thru the router though

Anything above 192.168.0.10 is dynamic, everything below we use for static addressing. I'd suggest you find an empty ip address and use it just to try it for testing. It would at least tell us whether DHCP is the culprit or not.
