I have Problem using my Firewire card. I spent couple of hours maybe
days trying to get it working with no success.

Hope you can help me....

System:
RedHat 8.0
Kernel: 2.4.18-18.8.0
CPU: AMD Duron 1300 MHz
Mainboard: ECS K7S5A
PCI FW with Powersupply plugged
(if the powersupply the problem is, how can I find it out?)

Problem: When I start gscanbus I got following errors:
<snip>
Error while reading from IEEE1394: : Resource temporarily unavailable
something is wrong here
Error while reading from IEEE1394: : Resource temporarily unavailable
Could not read topologyMap
<snip>

Misc.:
- My camera works with IBM PCMCIA Firewire on Thinkpad Laptop T20
- Cable shipped with the PCI FWcard works (used with another
FWInterface)
- gscanbus shows no connection to the 'S400 Linux OHCI-1394', though my
digicam was playing a film.

On Window$ system:
- Firewire card: detected as Lucent / Agere systems FW322/FW323
- Bluescreen on accessing digicam (JVC DVP 5) -> Only reboot helps!

Some other questions:
- How can I get any information of a module (e.g. ieee.o: version,
compile date, etc.)?
- How can I make a newer ieee1394.o and or ohci1394.o without building a
new kernel? Can I use Mr. Right's Modules for the same Kernel? Anybody
has the modules for me?

How can I get the PCI Firewirecard working? (is that a problem of the
'old' ohci1394, the one installed on RH? How can I only compile this
driver module?)

Thanks and best regards,
Ricky
