"chkconfig --list" should show imap on.

this shows imap as on

"kill -1" the xinetd process id#.

telnet localhost 143

and tell us what you get.

$ telnet localhost 143
Trying 127.0.0.1...
telnet: connect to address 127.0.0.1: Connection refused


This is what I get back. Any ideas?
