I've had good luck with directv (used to be telocity)  I am running
ADSL (800k downstream, 200k upstream).  They supply th modem.  Costs
$49.99 a month.

  There are many "flavors" of xDSL (ADSL, SDSL, RDSL, etc.). 
Whatever DSL 
gateway or bridge model someone recommends may or may not work with
the 
flavor you end up subscribing to.  It is preferable to find a DSL
provider 
that claims to support Linux.  It is also usually easier to find an 
ethernet card that works with Linux than an USB based DSL
gateway/bridge.
