Hello all, I'm having trouble connecting to my ISP using pap-authentification. The thing is, I can get my modem to dial and it connects ok. Then ppp starts up and something like this shows up in the log: ppp <--> /dev/modem Then nothing happens for like 30 seconds and then it disconnects with the error message: LCP: timeout sending Config-Request I've tried the scripts in the PPP-Howto, ezppp and about every script I've found on the net, but nothing works. I've upgraded ppp to version 2.3.3, ppp IS compiled into the kernel, I'm quite sure /etc/resolv.conf, pap-secret etc. are correctly set up. The server I try to connect to is a NT server, when I call in using just minicom he seems to be passive, i.e. no garbage shows up on the screen (as it should according to the PPP-Howto), just the line "connect 57600\". Is there something I need to do to get the server to respond? Another thing is that the modem responds quite slowly, it takes the init-string almost half a minute to execute before the modem starts to dial (ezppp is faster, though). When I dial out using Win95 the modem responds immediately and starts dialing. Perhaps this means that there is some IRQ conflicts or something? I'm quite at loss on what to do. I've tried about everything I can get my hands on but nothing at all works. I could change ISP's, but I hate to leave a problem unsolved:-) Hope someone can help Regards, Gumundur Erlingsson -- PLEASE read the Red Hat FAQ, Tips, Errata and the MAILING LIST ARCHIVES! http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-FAQ /RedHat-Errata /RedHat-Tips /mailing-lists To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
