I disagree re: the hitting - or rather, a brushback pitch. It's been in the
game
forever and is certainly a 'part' of the game. The problem these days
is, 1) pitchers don't know how to do it (heck, they barely pitch inside any
more), 2) players don't understand that it's part of the game - 'show me
up and I will show you up' and charge the mound at the slightest provocation
and
3) umpires are too quick to warn teams and throw pitchers out.

If Burnett had any balls, he would have plunked Papi the first time he came up
with no one on base.

I just don't see what's a big deal about a bat flip. How's that different than
fist pumping, hands the air, screams of triumphant, etc.
I don't care. On any side. If Arod flips a bat after a HR - great. He hit the
home run.

I think this view of things like bat flips being 'poor showmanship', 'lack of
respect' etc. is just silly. This is not T-Ball where "everyone is suppose to
win"

And can we please get away from 'hitting people' is part of the game. If
someone
intentionally hits someone then eject them for several games and move on.
This tit for tat is in my opinion not part of the game. It's bitter and stupid.
And certainly hitting someone because someone else hit a HR is equally stupid.
My opinion. I see no reason for having it in the game.

Loved that bat flip! In fact I howled as soon as I saw it during the game the
other night, even rewinded (rewound?) the DVR to make sure everybody in the

saw it. My wife says “You liked that arrogant little move? If it was AROD
that
did it you’d be all over him.” She is probably right. But that’s because Papi
is just much more loveable than AROD. J
