Sellers I agree - I think we need to let Crawford get his surgery (so he's 100% next year), trade Becket and Lester for a good solid #2 starter behind Buckholtz, and look for another starter from AAA or somewhere else. The kid today came out of bullpen and pitched 3 innings of 1 hit baseball as I recall. Let's bring up more of them - and test for next year's starting rotation. Our bullpens is fine - besides that we need the closer we have sorely missed since Ft. Myers. Let Big Papi have a career year in hitting - don't tell him the seasons a wash if though deep down he knows it...
Today I left in top of the 8th - 4 hours of 90+ heat in right field (no cover) was enough - when Toronto got 4 more runs I couldn't watch it anymore and wife had been complaining since the 4th inning. Hitting is fine - the starting pitching is a mess - has been ALL season. My question is this - Will Bobby have a job next season if indeed the Red Sox don't make it to the playoffs? I hope not - he left Lester in this game WAY to long and when he does make decisions they aren't good ones. I tired of hearing about how he's still learning the players... bs. The players aren't doing their jobs - but neither are you Bobby and the blame always goes to the mgr first before the players. Beckett needs to go... He's worn out his welcome - I liked the guy only as a good pitcher and now that he's not a good pitcher it's time to go. Lester - I don't know what to say here - it's got to be mechanics or something - why can't he right the ship? He's looked awful all year... The whole organization messed up Bard... Buckholtz has been our ONLY shining starter this season if he can stay out of the hospital to win every 5th day. I'm frustrated more then a doubting thomas - the pieces are there - I just don't understand how Jon can give up 8 runs in 2 innings.
