I don't think we have a #1 starter right now. Buchholz has been inconsistent most of his career and right when he starts pitching well, he generally gets hurt or has some freak medical condition. Lester and Beckett? Beckett is pretty much done, I'd say, and while I have hopes for Lester, I think he takes too many cues from Beckett and don't see this pitching coach - who admittedly has a 'hands off' style - fixing him. But good luck getting anyone to take either ne of these guys, especially since we'd be selling low. I don't think we have anyone in AAA who is ready, either. Tazawa has also been very inconsistent.
This sure look like a 'play out the string' season, with a lot of 10-9 losses in our future.
