Hi all.
I have an existing 2 year old 120 reef setup.
and am experiencing a small amount of cyano.
I currently have a sand bed of about 4 inches, made up of fairly coarse to
sugar size sands.
I am thinking of syphoning alot of this out and replacing it with just
carribean play sand, but cannot find it anywhere.
now I know there are many sources for cyano, but I think this larger sized
sand is trapping alot of gunk, and it is not cunducive to fauna in the sand
bed.
any suggestions? or anything I should expect when I syphon some sand out??
also I am getting alot of red and green looking alage under sand surface
against glass. any ideas on stopping it?

one last thing, when I upgraded to my 400w mh last year i didnt think about
a few things, one: its too much fer my tank, and 2: all my pink and red
corraline algae is gone. replaced by the green variety. I think this is a
high light species of it.
Anythoughts on bringing back the pink?? under high light situations? the
lower light areas (not many) are still getting good growth of Corraline
algae.
Tia
