why bother with a skimmer? set up a macro algae refugium. I have several 8
gallon nano tanks. Two have skimmers, and one has a refugium. ALl have
identical lighting set ups, current set ups. And the all have the same
corals. I set the one with the refugium up last. And the corals all came from
my 30 gallon reef that i propagated. The growth improvement in the tank with
the refugium is amazing. If you are determined to build a skimmer. seriously
consider making it from PVC. I have a 48" tall skimmer that i made and i only
use a rio 600 on it that is also throttled down about a quarter of the way.
Surely you can get PVC cheaply in mexico city.
