I totally agree. I finally bought a refractometer after being fed up with
always questioning my hydrometer. They are more expensive, but they last
forever if you take care of them. FWIW

Hi there
What type of hydrometer are you using? Have you compared its
readings against a known good glass hydrometer? I have seen those
plastic floating type hydrometers be out as much as .007 low on its
reading which could make an actual true reading be 1.030. Just my 2�
worth.
