I've never built a glass tank, but have literally built hundreds of acrylic
ones, and its very easy if you are a little mechanically inclined and have
the right tools.  I haven't had a leaker yet (in 5 years that I've been
doing this) and warranty them for life..  You should be able to check your
seams before you ever fill it up with water.
