If your refugium is glass (like mine) & cant be drilled, you can use a U tube siphon return. To insure that no bubbles get trapped in the U & break the siphon, you can drill & insert a hose barb(I use 1/4" hose)into the top of the U. Attach the other end of the hose to the intake of your pump, the venturi effect will pull the air out.

Rick,
The easiest way to do it, is have a refugium that is higher than the sump.
Then, you drill a hole in the refugium (above the sump), install a bulkhead
and run a pipe from that bulkhead down into the sump. Then, use a powerhead
to pump water from your sump into your refugium. Is what will happen is the
powerhead will fill the refugium which will overflow through the bulkhead,
down the pipe into the sump. Easy money!
You may want to drill a second hole as high, or higher if you can, and
install a second BH and plumb it as well. This can be used for a back up
incase your first one gets plugged for any strange reason.
Hope this helps!
